A celebration of Ruth Tarvydas at the Telstra Perth Fashion Festival
As part of the five-day Telstra Perth Fashion festival in western Australia, Fashion One takes you on a behind the scenes look at the ‘Ruth Tarvydas - A Celebration’ fashion show held at the Ascot racecourse.
Perth born designer Ruth Tarvydas passed away tragically last year and the Australian fashion community gathered together for this event to show their love and appreciation for her spectacular collection of work. Highly regarded for her work in Australia and around the world, her celebrity clients included Rihanna, Kim Kardashian and Kimberly Stewart.
We take a peak backstage at the models preparing for the event and speak to Carol Mackie, make-up director for MAC cosmetics, who talks us through the dramatic make up themes for the evening including the deep red cartoon-like lips which are set off perfectly by the sleek bun hairstyles directed by the L’Oreal hair team.
A rainbow array of gowns were on display in a vast number of styles including cut away transparencies, flowing chiffons and stunning side splits with the dazzling and glittering sequins, beads and jewels taking the luxury embellishments to a new level of glamor.
Designer Alex Perry spoke warmly about the fashion show, his thoughts on Ruth and her incredible work which continues to live on through events such as this.
