Ji Wenbo Strengthens the Cultural Bridge at the France-China Fashion Summit
Fashion One visited the French and Chinese Collaboration Fashion Summit in Paris. Featuring the work of China’s “King of Fashion” Ji Wenbo, the event was held at the prestigious Hôtel d’Evreux.
The executive vice president of the China National Garment Association, Chen Dapeng, was very pleased with the success of the conference and the 50 year relationship between France and China. The meeting allows the two countries to communicate, exchange ideas and talk about their history leading to even stronger co-operation in the future.
Ji Wenbo is a very famous designer in China, well known for taking his inspiration from Chinese culture and his use of Chinese fabrics with delicate details. We take a backstage look at the models going through rehearsal and hair and makeup before the show. Ji Wenbo’s collection of shiny metallics on bold fabrics, striking printed suits and strong structured dresses look particularly stunning in the decor of the beautiful historic French venue.
We talk to the designer himself who has been working in fashion for more than 30 years about his work overseas, representing Chinese culture and building a cultural bridge between France and China. Didier Grumbach the chairman of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture tells us the history of the forum and takes pride in the friendly and warm relationship the two countries have formed over the years.
