Sofía Vergara, Colombian Superstar



Sofía Margarita Vergara is an actress, model, and TV presenter from Colombia. She was born on July 10th 1972, in Barranquilla, Colombia, where she began her career after being discovered at the age of 17 by a photographer while she was walking on a beach in her home country.

At the age of 20, Vergara moved to Bogotá, Colombia, to work as a runway model and television actress. She became a star in the Latin American market when international Spanish-language television network Univisión broadcast her shows. This gave her television exposure in the United States and helped to further her career.

Since 2009, Sofía Vergara has starred on the worldwide hit comedy series Modern Family, where she plays Gloria Delgado-Pritchett. She has been nominated for four Golden Globe Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards, and seven Screen Actors Guild Awards since taking on this role.

In 2011 she became the new face of American cosmetics brand CoverGirl, and also appeared in a Diet Pepsi commercial with English footballer David Beckham.

She began dating True Blood and Magic Mike actor Joe Manganiello in July 2014, and the couple are a firm favorite of Hollywood photographers.

A fun fact about her is that her hair is naturally blonde, although she can most often be seen sporting brunette locks.
