Derek Lam’s New Opening and Narciso Rodriguez Honored

A New Store for Derek Lam

American fashion designer Derek Lam is to open his first retail store for his diffusion line the contemporary and edgy Derek Lam 10 Crosby, to be located at 115 Mercer Street with a web-store set to launch the same month. The designer observed that the new store will allow him to refocus on the domestic market while his e-commerce platform will give remote buyers an easy and flexible way to purchase his products and explore the brand’s aesthetic.

Narciso Rodriguez Honored

New York based American Fashion designer Narciso Rodriguez, known for his exquisite sense of tailoring and crisp graceful silhouettes, will receive a National Design Award from the Smithsonian's Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum - an award which honors excellence in contemporary American design. The museum praised the designer’s role in reshaping American style over the last two decades and his singular role in the global fashion landscape. It is just the latest in a string of honors for the designer who was recently named one of the nation's most influential Hispanics by Time magazine.

The Pradasphere

Prestigious British department store Harrods has unveiled its highly anticipated collaboration with Italian luxury brand Prada with the ‘Pradasphere’ a multi-faceted exhibition and showroom which will celebrate the history of the brand and explore its ongoing creative process. The exhibit takes the entirety of the 4th floor of the Knightsbridge London store; devoting it to an exaltation of all things Prada. The show features pieces carefully curated from past seasonal collections and highlighting special projects and collaborations, including the brands film and architecture works. In addition Harrods will showcase a Prada capsule collection inspired by iconic creations of the house available exclusively in store.
