Celebs on File Episode 194
All of the biggest names in the U.S. music industry gathered to celebrate MTV's Music Video Awards in Inglewood, California. The annual event honors artists’s achievements in music videos with Rita Ora, Demi Lovato and Cher Lloyd joined by the likes of Gwen Stefani, Usher, Iggy Azalea, Maroon 5, Kesha and Snoop Lion (formerly known as Snoop Dogg) on the red carpet. Katy Perry made a style statement when she turned up in a denim dress, with rumored boyfriend Riff Raff sporting double denim—a hark back to 2001, when then-couple Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake made headlines for their matching denim sartorial choice. Perry also won a trophy, along with Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus—whose “Wrecking Ball” won Video of the Year—and Beyoncé, who was presented with the MTV Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award by husband Jay-Z together with daughter Blue Ivy.
The 66th Primetime Emmy Awards attracted a star-studded guest list that included A-listers such as Halle Berry, Julia Roberts, Claire Danes, Matthew McConaughey, Kerry Washington, Lena Headey and Sofía Vergara. The Normal Heart, starring Matt Bomer, won for Television Movie. Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, and Anna Gunn all won awards, as did their hit show Breaking Bad. Julianna Margulies won the Lead Actress Award for her role as Alicia Florrick in The Good Wife. Ty Burrell won Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role on Modern Family, which was named Outstanding Comedy for the fifth time.
Emma Stone and fellow co-stars Edward Norton and Michael Keaton, together with Mexican film director Alejandro González Iñárritu, arrived at this year’s Venice Film Festival to promote their new film Birdman, which tells the story of a fading movie star staging a Broadway comeback.
