Former Louis Vuitton CEO Dead
As long-term chief executive Carcelle successfully transformed Louis Vuitton from a plain French handbag maker into a global luxury fashion brand. He did not only conquer the Asian market and increase the company's revenue greatly, but in 1997 he hired star designer Marc Jacobs as creative director and advanced the brand's product range beyond leather goods.
After working at Louis Vuitton for more than 20 years, Carcelle stepped down from his position as CEO in 2012, but further acted as an adviser and member of the executive board. He is survived by his wife Rebecca and his five children.
